Home Defense 1 - $ 175
1 Day Class
With rise in violent crime, and record number home intrusions occurring daily, home owners need to be prepared to survive these attacks. More and more criminals are breaking into occupied homes and they are coming with firearms. They want your hard earned money and valuables’; they are also coming for prescription drugs. Budget cuts are keeping more and more criminals on the streets.
This course is being offered by request of concerned citizens that want to know what they can do to survive a home intrusion.
During this course we will cover the basics of preparation for a defensible position within the home. We will look at what to have on hand in a safe room and how to defend from this position.
The safe storage of handguns and long guns in the home will be covered.
A demonstration of wall penetration by a variety of handguns, rifles, and shotguns will be used to aid in the selection of home defense ammunition and weapon selection.
Low light fighting will be discussed, with practical exercises on the use of artificial illumination (flashlight) with a handgun.
Practical range exercises will include basics of handgun use and shotgun use.
People attending this course should bring either a handgun or shotgun or both for use on the range. Approximately 150 rounds of handgun ammunition and 30 rounds of shotgun ammunition. A variety of shotgun ammunition should be used, buckshot, birdshot and slugs.
Range work is outside, please consider the season, and dress appropriate for the weather. Please bring water to remain hydrated, and bug spray when appropriate.
Lunch will be on your own; you may bring a lunch with you or use a local merchant. Lunch break usually runs from 45 minutes to one hour.
You will be required to sign a statement attesting to your good character, and not have a criminal history or any restraining orders. Participants must be 18 years of age or older.
