Robert W. Stebbins, II - Firearms Instructor
Robert Stebbins is an NRA-certified Patrol Rifle Instructor, who served in the U.S. Marine Corps Infantry from 1981 to 1987, having attained the rank of Sergeant before being honorably discharged. During his tour of duty, he served at Marine Barracks, Washington, D.C. in the H&S Company Guard Section doing protective services details and physical security. He received a Meritorious Mast and a Navy Letter of Commendation, for his service guarding the wife of the Turkish President in 1982 at Bethesda Naval Hospital. He also performed perimeter security for President Ronald Reagan and then-Vice President George H.W. Bush during his tour at the “Oldest Post in the Corps”. Bob was transferred to the 2nd Marine Division at Camp Lejeune where he joined the 2nd Battalion, 2nd Marine Regiment as a Rifleman.
He was selected for service as a Scout-Sniper, MOS 8541, and attended the six-week 2nd Marine Division Scout-Sniper Course at Camp Lejeune, N.C. He was assigned to a Surveillance and Target Acquisition platoon with the 2nd Marine Regiment on a two-man Scout-Sniper Team. He was later selected to attend the U.S. Marine Corps Scout-Sniper Instructor Course at Quantico, VA, where he graduated in November, 1983 and returned to duty as a Scout-Sniper and adjunct evaluator of sniper students.
In addition to his military marksmanship training, Bob has attended and competed the F.B.I. Firearms Instructor Techniques Course; the Vermont Police Academy Rifle Instructor Course; and the National Rifle Association Patrol Rifle Instructor Development Course. During the past three years he has attended and completed the High-Intensity Carbine Course; the Long Gun Combative Course and the Plain Clothes/CCW Combative Course, all taught by a nationally-renowned firearms instructor.
He holds two Marine Corps High-Expert marksmanship awards, including the Battalion High Shooter Award for his score of 243/250 on the Marine Corps Known-Distance Course in 1983, while serving overseas in Okinawa. He also holds two Team First Place trophies, from the Vermont Police Academy Law Enforcement Competitions, in 2005 and 2006.
Bob conducts small arms training, in pistol, revolver, shotgun and patrol rifle for law enforcement agencies. He currently holds the rank of Lieutenant. His area of specialization is precision bolt-action rifle and AR-15 training. In addition, he is a certified Glock pistol armorer. Bob is a member in good standing of the American Legion; the National Rifle Association; the Vermont State Rifle and Pistol Association and the Glock Shooting Sports Foundation.
